Technical Overview

The DinBox GSM is a serial V.24/RS-232 DIN-rail Dual band (900/1800 MHz) GSM modem for M²M applications, with Wavecom technology inside. Depending on the specifications, instruction set, application, target sales price,… a specific Wavecom module can be selected by the client. All Wavecom modules are compatible within the same design. Standard we have 2 different models: the Dinbox GSM, based on a Wavecom Q2400A (GSM) and the Dinbox GPRS, based on a Q2406B (GSM/GPRS Class 10 with embedded TCP/IP).
The 'Communication Control' Processor implemented in the DINbox GSM can monitor the whole communication process and also the status of the 4 I/O lines of the modem. It will perform the necessary action when input changes are detected or when data is received to change output pins. I/O is possible via TTL, opto coupler or relay contact. 'Communication Control' Processor designs are 100% built according to customer applications and specifications. Of course we have some standard designs available (see Technical Details)

Watchdog functionality
A long-term watchdog circuit is implemented. The power supply of the Wavecom GSM module and the “Communication Control” processor will be disconnected for a few seconds after the selected reset period.
If a part of the DinBox GSM is ‘locked’ after e.g. an unexpected high ESD discharge, surge pulse or an internal lock-up, this watchdog will always insure the continuity of communication.
 
 “Communication Control” Processor
This processor can monitor the whole communication process. This processor will also control the 4 I/O lines and will perform the necessary action when input changes are detected or when data is received to change output pins.
“Communication Control” processor versions are equipped with I/O. We provide I/O on three possible levels: TTL input and output, opto coupler input and relais contact output:
 
2 input – if input is changed -- SMS send
2 output – SMS received – output will be changed
1 input – SMS / 1 output SMS
 
The software for this “Communication Control” processor can be adapted to special customer needs.
